Dedication of Children’s shepherds and parents as mentors

The children shepherds who have moved up to high school have been replaced by new children shepherds: Hwang Soo-ji, Park Jeremy, Yoon Hee-soo, Lim Si-on, Kwon El-bin, and Seok Jun-soo, a total of six. Last month, we saw youth shepherds appointed, and this week, 15 children shepherds will be appointed.

Appointing children shepherds is a blessed occasion. It is a task that prepares the future of the church and is an opportunity for the children to grow spiritually by loving souls and serving from a young age. We hope that you will bless these shepherds in your homes as well as in your house churches.

The role of the children shepherds is to lead children in weekly house church meetings, and to serve and look after other children at house church and at church. In church, we aim to support children shepherds to take their roles responsibly and confidently.

We ask that all house church members cooperate to ensure the children shepherds fulfill their roles well. Especially, please address them respectfully as "shepherds" rather than casually calling them by their names.

The role of parents is most important when it comes to children shepherds. Therefore, parents need to be mentors and dedicate themselves to the following guidelines:

  1. Pray at least twice a week for your child shepherd.
  2. Have regular conversations with your child shepherd and encourage them.
  3. Assist your child shepherd to attend the All Shepherds Meetings, and help prepare together for weekly house church meetings, including organizing and reviewing necessary materials (educational materials).
  4. Assist and help your child shepherd to serve their children’s house church.

To effectively mentor children shepherds, parents must demonstrate a life of faith. Through your example of love and prayer, you can serve as a foundation for their faith. In particular, if a child shepherd faces challenges or failures, please encourage them and help them see it as an opportunity for growth. We ask for your active support and prayers for their success.
