47th Church Anniversary Thanksgiving Sharing Event
In November, when the Jacaranda flowers bloom brightly in Sydney, we are reminded of our church’s founding Sunday. This year, our Church Anniversary Sunday will be celebrated next week, in the third week of November, alongside Thanksgiving Sunday. We thank God for allowing Sydney Crystal Church to grow beautifully as a church that fulfills the Lord's mission of saving souls and making disciples. We also thank God for meeting our needs and giving us grace throughout the year, and we look forward to a worship service filled with overflowing gratitude.
How can we express our thanks to God? In our current situation, where worship is divided into three services, we realized that inviting VIPs and offering food as a form of thanksgiving has its limits. After thinking about how we could foster a deeper, more meaningful culture of thanksgiving, we decided this year to hold a "Thanksgiving Sharing Event" as follows:
1. Thanksgiving Offering Sharing:
Every year, our Thanksgiving offerings have been used to support missionaries and struggling churches. This year, the offerings will also be directed toward supporting mission fields and churches in need. Please take a moment to write down your gratitude and offer it as a thanksgiving gift.
2. Sharing Thanksgiving Stories:
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the moments in your faith journey when you felt especially thankful. If you have a story or a specific person you want to express gratitude to, please write it down and place it in the designated box (which will be available at the entrance) or send it to us via the church email (crystalchurch.office@gmail.com) or the Crystal Church Kakao Channel (search for Sydney Crystal Church on KakaoTalk). During the worship service, we will share these thanksgiving stories together. Those whose stories are selected will receive a gift to have a thanksgiving party with their house church.
3. House Church Thanksgiving Sharing:
In each house church, members will write down 10 things they are thankful for about each other and share them aloud. This will be a wonderful opportunity to express gratitude in a concrete way and remind one another how precious we are in each other's lives.
4. Thanksgiving Goods Sharing:
In past years, the altar has been decorated with grains, fruits, and vegetables during Thanksgiving Sunday. This year, in addition to these items, we invite you to bring any goods or gifts you would like to share with others. We will distribute them to those in need. If you would like to give something to a specific person, please write their name on it. If there is no name, the items will be distributed through the shepherds to those who need them.
Let us come together with hearts full of gratitude, remembering the grace God has poured into our lives this year, and share our thanks in meaningful ways.
