If we are unable to control what we say, our lifelong faith can collapse overnight.
As Christians we must be careful what we say is consistent.
As Christians we mustn’t speak as though we have two characters.
Please remember that what we say shows who we are. The tongue is hard to tame; therefore we must rely on the Holy Spirit that lives within us.
Let us be careful what we say today as we remember what God says to us in Numbers 14:28: ‘I will do to you the very thing I heard you say’.
Let us pause for five seconds before we open our mouths. Let our mouths be full of beautiful words.
Passage: James 3:1-18
6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind,
8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.
10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
