Those who are sick suffer physical pain and their hearts may be weakened. When we find it difficult to pray on our own we need to share our hardships to the leaders of the church so that they can pray for us. They pray for their sheep earnestly and with faith. The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well, and give hope to those who have suffered.
God does not listen only to certain people’s prayers. Elijah was an ordinary human being, as we are. But his earnest and faithful prayer was powerful and effective that it stopped the rain and made it to rain again. The power of prayer begins from our earnest heart and faith.
Passage: James 5:13-20
14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
