Through Jeremiah, God declares to the palace of Judah, ‘Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow.’
The fact He wanted this proclaimed meant that the palace of Judah was doing the opposite.
The palace of Judah was built upon God’s grace and was obedient towards God. But they worshipped other gods and became corrupt with sin.
God tells them to ‘obey’ Him, and if they don’t, the palace will become a ruin.
If we don’t obey God, we too, can become like the palace of Judah. As written in verse 8, ‘People will ask one another, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?’ we too can become a laughing stock to foreigners. What are you meditating on through today’s Word? Let us be ‘determined to obey His Word’.

5 But if you do not obey these commands, declares the Lord, I swear by myself that this palace will become a ruin.’
8 “People from many nations will pass by this city and will ask one another, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?’
9 And the answer will be: ‘Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and have worshiped and served other gods.’”
