The ultimate direction and goal of the House Church is to save souls and make disciples. However, the goal of the weekly house church meetings should be to experience God. You can experience God during the various contents of the house church meetings. The most important time to experience God during the house church meetings is probably the time of sharing and intercessory prayer. Through sharing and intercessory prayer, even unbelievers can indirectly experience God. In addtion, through sharing, you experience healing and recovery from your worries and sorrows.
When sharing at the house church meetings, the thankful points are shared, and difficulties are shared as the subjects of prayer. When we share thanks, negative thoughts can change, and when we pray together, we experience God’s answers. However, sharing gratitude and prayer topics will not be deep if you share only the general gratitude in your life, and it becomes the same story every week.
In order for sharing to be more abundant, we need to share our gratitude for how we lived by applying what we learned based on the Sunday sermons. The thing to note is that it cannot be too spiritually deep, so that the new believers won’t be able to understand. So, rather than sharing the Word itself at the house church meetings, we share how we applied the Word and lived the week with the Word. For example, if the Sunday sermon was about ‘the power to save life’, and you committed to ‘speak words of comfort and life to my children this week’, and if you share how you applied the Word that week and were grateful for that week for speaking the words of life, then you and your house church members will all be able to experience God from your sharing. If you share like this every week, you will grow into a believer, who experiences God’s work in their life, and not just to have faith that accepts the Word as knowledge only.
This is the reason for re-dedication on Sundays. This means to commit to God to listening to the Word, and to applying it to your life this week.
