Indonesia Mission Trip
We are going on a mission trip to Indonesia from November 18 to 27. This mission is not a short-term mission trip; it aims to assist house church pastors and churches in Indonesia. The participants are myself, wife Hong Mun-il, shepherd’s wife Hwang In-young, Song Sung-hee, and sister Oh Hyun-jung, totaling five people.
This mission was initiated by a heartfelt request for assistance from Missionary Ha Young-kwang (Lord’s Peace). When they first requested help for a House Church seminar for pastors and retreat for local shepherds and their partners, I was concerned due to my personal schedule. However, considering the 20 years of effort to establish biblical churches through house churches in predominantly Muslim Indonesia, I felt compelled to help.
Missionary Ha Young-kwang has been hosting House Church seminar for pastors since 2009 centred around Salatiga’s New Life Church, helping pastors in Indonesia participate in House Church seminars in Korea and the United States, serving as a hub church. The House Churches established have provided life Bible studies from learning through these seminars, striving to restore the New Testament church model.
This mission team's task in Indonesia will be to teach the life of assurance Bible study and the life of holiness Bible study at the "House Church Seminar for Pastors." About 40 pastors, including missionaries in Indonesia, are expected to participate in the seminar. The mission team will also give lectures, presentations, and testimonies during two "Retreats for shepherds and their partners" (in West Java and Central Java). They will also participate in Sunday services (preaching and testimonies) and meetings for local pastors. I feel a burden but also excitement about meeting and encouraging the House Church pastors and shepherds in Indonesia.
We need your prayers for this mission to Indonesia. We have a lot of work to do in a short time, so please pray that God will bring fruit to the ministry and protect the health and safety of the entire mission team. Most of the local churches in Indonesia are small and face persecution due to the large Muslim population, so financial support is needed for the seminars and retreats for pastors and shepherds. We would appreciate it if those who feel led to support the mission could contribute, even with a small amount, while praying for the land of Indonesia.
Word of the week
Many different people attend Sunday worship. Among them, there are those who are coming to worship for the first time through the house church. Even if they are not from your house church, please take the initiative to warmly greet them.
