          • The Example of a Faithful Believer
The year 2024 is coming to an end. It has been over 23 years since I began pastoring at Sydney Crystal Church. Looking back, I am filled with a sense of grace. As I continue in ministry, there is a prayer that I carry in my heart. It is a prayer that more and more church members would become examples of faith who are respected and honoured. This is because I believe that when there are more exemplary believers, the church will grow beautifully and healthily. I have written down how the example of a faithful believer is manifested.
First, it is the appearance of a sincere believer. Sincerity is the life of a believer who consistently lives in obedience to God's word. It is also the appearance of disciples who are becoming more like the Lord. In particular, sincere faith is revealed through how one endures trials and hardships in life. It is in the way believers pass through such suffering by faith that we see the true and sincere nature of their faith.
Second, it is the appearance of a believer with a warm heart. Those who are perceived as having strong faith exude warmth. This warmth is shown in their ability to empathise, listen, and understand others, as well as their willingness to sacrifice and serve others. Human nature is self-centred and selfish, so when we see this kind of attitude, we are moved. The warm heart of a believer is the result of a life lived in constant battle to overcome selfishness and stinginess.
Third, it is the appearance of a believer who is faithful to the end. A person who remains faithful to their duties until the end is an example, more so than one who simply performs well. There are those who quietly fulfill their duties, whether seen or unseen by others, without expecting recognition. This is because they have the heart of a servant who knows that God has entrusted them with this task. People often complain or harbour resentment when things don’t suit them or when they feel uncomfortable. However, faithful people think of the community rather than their own benefits or thoughts, and they strive to fill the gaps in the group.
Believers who exemplify these qualities will not only earn the respect of others but will also receive the Lord’s commendation when they stand before Him, hearing the words, "Well done."

            Word of the week
Today is the last Sunday of 2024. I thank God for His grace throughout the year. In the upcoming house church meeting, let us share about the people and events we are most thankful for from this past year, and prepare three personal prayer topics for the new year to share with one another.
