Let’s participate in ministries in 2025
The image I have in mind when I think about the church is a church where the lay people are the main subjects and are actively involved in ministries. In order for lay ministries to flourish, we must become a church where lay people take the lead in house church ministry and in corporate church ministries.
The church becomes part of the body that belongs to Christ when Christ is the head and we all play a role as members. When a part of the body does not function properly, other parts suffer.
Lay ministries are divided into house church ministry and corporate church ministry. House church ministry is not just done by the shepherd and shepherd’s wife, but by all members of the house church sharing roles together, acting as a small church. There are manya different types of ministries. Praise, sermon sharing, reading the column, intercessory prayer, olive blessing, mission news, photography, celebrations, children’s house church, meal cooperation, snack preparation, etc are all divided according to the number of house church members.
The ministry of the corporate church is broader and more numerous. When it comes to the ministries of the church, it is easy to think it is only the praise team, Sunday School and Youth teachers, kitchen ministry, welcome team, and facilities. What surprised me when I visited Seoul Baptist Church of Houston was how many ministries were taking place and were continuously being developed according to one's gifts, interests, or needs. And most of the members were participating in the ministries.
If you go to church but only attend worship service, you will not feel a sense of belonging and your life of faith will not be meaningful. But, when you participate in ministries, you can experience a rewarding and enjoyable life of faith. If you do not have a ministry, please join us in ministries this year. To start, basic information is listed down by ministry departments. So, firstly, please join a ministry department or ministry team and tell the team leader about ministries you can do. Only then can ministries be developed and diversified. If you do not know what ministry to do, please ask your shepherd and receive their help to find out what you can do.

Today is Ministry Commitment Sunday. Please write your name down on the ministry list posted at the entrance of the church for the department and ministry you would like to commit to. Even if you are already part of a ministry, please write your name down again for this ministry.
