          • God Who Dwells in Praise

The recent Three-strand Cord Prayer Nights were held with much grace. During this gathering, after the sermon, we spent time singing several songs and praying, earnestly seeking the presence of the Holy Spirit. It went beyond praying only for set prayer topics or our personal requests—we sought the Spirit’s presence in our praises and prayed together with the prayer topics He gave us. After praising and praying together, groups of three gathered and continued to pray late into the night. It was a beautiful sight, and I thought how wonderful it would be if every Wednesday Night Prayer Worships were like this.
Psalm 22:3 says, “Yet You are holy, enthroned on the praises (tehillah) of Israel.” The Hebrew word tehillah, translated here as “praise,” does not simply mean a song or an emotional expression, but a sincere confession that exalts God’s works and character. It is the heart’s confession of God’s grace, an act of worship that lifts Him high, and a prayer of the soul. When we praise with all our hearts, the Holy Spirit dwells among us, and our souls find freedom.
In 1 Samuel 16:23, when Saul was tormented by an evil spirit, David played the lyre and praised the Lord, and the evil spirit left him, bringing Saul peace again. In the same way, praise offered in worship carries great spiritual power. When sung with a longing for God, praise itself can drive away evil spirits and set bound souls free. Those who are weary and burdened gain new strength in the midst of praise.
At times in worship, some remain silent during praise without opening their lips. For new believers, it may be because they are not yet familiar with the melodies or lyrics, or because their hearts are not yet open to God. In such cases, it is important to make the effort to intentionally open our mouths and sing along. For those who already believe yet still cannot bring themselves to sing, it may be that their spirit is bound. But that is precisely the time to praise.
Praise is not just singing—it is the confession of the soul and a channel of grace through which we encounter God’s presence. May the praises we sing become true tehillah, so that both our worship and our lives may be filled with the presence of God.

The Three-strand Cord Prayer nights have been graciously concluded. To continue living a Spirit-filled life with a constant awareness of the Holy Spirit, we encourage you to join the Wednesday Night Prayer Worship.
