It is not a common thing to see a nation change its gods, but Israel people have exchanged their God who is the source of life for worthless idols and have dug their own cisterns. God sees his people and how sinful they are, he reproached them with sorrow. Because of Israel’s treachery in abandoning the Lord who is the source of life, they are carried away captive and the land and towns are burned and deserted.
It is evil and suffering to abandon God to following worthless idols and dig broken cistern. If you are still wasting your time and effort holding on to the world’s broken cistern, turn your eyes upon God who is the source of life
Passage: Jeremiah 2:9-19
11 Has a nation ever changed its gods? (Yet they are not gods at all.) But my people have exchanged their glorious God for worthless idols.
12 Be appalled at this, you heavens, and shudder with great horror,” declares the Lord.
13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
