God is enraged at the sins committed by the people of Judah and He gives them a frightening message of judgement. The judgements are death, sword, starvation and captivity.
God’s judgement is frightening.
God was determined to destroy the people of Judah without mercy, even if they turned away from sin.
What has made God so determined of His judgement!
It is ‘disobedience’.
God gave them multiple chances but Judah did not turn away from their sinful ways. God did not abandon Judah; they abandoned Him.
Be afraid of God’s judgement.
Believe in God’s judgement.
And don’t forget that if we live a disobedient life, we too can become like Judah.
Passage: Jeremiah 15:1-9
5 “Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn for you? Who will stop to ask how you are? 6 You have rejected me,” declares the Lord. “You keep on backsliding. So I will reach out and destroy you; I am tired of holding back.
7 I will winnow them with a winnowing fork at the city gates of the land. I will bring bereavement and destruction on my people, for they have not changed their ways.
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
