God presents the way of life to the people of Judah who are faced with the crisis of judgment. It is to surrender before their enemies. For those who did not listen to the word of God and disobeyed God, that path was a way of death and of which did not make sense.
Who will be able to choose the way of life? It is the person who realises how serious their sins are and comes to the place of repentance. It is the person who can obey God’s will even if it does not make sense to them. What is the way of life for us that God desires us to obey even though It is different to our will?
Passage to read: Jeremiah 21:8-10
8 “Furthermore, tell the people, ‘This is what the Lord says: See, I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death. 9 Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Babylonians who are besieging you will live; they will escape with their lives. 10 I have determined to do this city harm and not good, declares the Lord. It will be given into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will destroy it with fire.’
